Description: This course will follow the framework of Singapore Math Primary Math U.S. edition, with some additional materials related to Math Olympiads Contest (MOEMS). It emphasizes the importance of critical thinking and problem solving in math word problems. The students are expected to finish their weekly homework assignments, participate class discussion, and attend 5 in-class math competition throughout the school year. Topics covered include grade-appropriate mathematical terminology, beginning algebra (problem-solving with variables), quick review of prime numbers, fractions, decimals, percentage, ratio/proportions before moving onto advanced word problems such as rates and mixtures.
