Position for Newsletter Editor-in-Chief

Time: 2010-11-07 21:02:38 -- Number: 139

SCCS is looking for an enthusiastic volunteer to take on the position of SCCS Newsletter Editor-in-Chief, which was vacated recently. The SCCS Newsletter, established at the beginning of 2008, reports community news, carries school announcements and policies, and displays student works. The Newsletter has published 8 issues in the past (here is the link), and has facilitated communications among our school, parents, teachers, students, and guests outside of our school community. The chief editor of the Newsletter will lead an Editorial Board consisting of a managing editor and several assistant editors. The chief editor is primarily responsible for the content of the publication. To decide specific topics and format of a Newsletter issue, he/she must closely communicate with the Advisory board, school leaders, and PTA. He/She acts as a coordinator and work together with members of the editorial board, and the group together is responsible for writing, editing, and publishing the Newsletter. He/She may also ask school officials, teachers, parents, and students for reports and articles. Because the official language of the Newsletter is in Chinese (simplified characters), the chief editor should be proficient in Chinese language. It is also preferable that he/she is familiar with graphic-design software. However, the language and graphic skills are not absolute if he/she can recruit members competent in these areas, as managing editor, to the Newsletter editorial board. The editor-in-chief, and the managing editor, will need to be confirmed by the Board of Directors. If you are interested in taking on this work, please contact the board (board@ynhchineseschool.org ). Thank you for volunteering at SCCS! SCCS Board and the Newsletter Advisory board
